Statement
Since my teen age, I was
interested in art, but my obsession started when I visited the National
Gallery in London, England.
What impressed me most were the J. M. W. Turner paintings. What is
magical about them is the way Turner uses colors, irregular strokes and
strong contrasts between light and darkness to create a dramatic
atmosphere. I can certainly say that he inspired me and, now, you can
find drama in most of my paintings. Often, I use strong contrasting
colors with light “peaking thru darkness” and bold strokes to create
feelings about a certain atmosphere or event, rather than to paint them
realistically. I enjoy painting landscapes as if they were seen through
windows. This highlights the main story in the paintings and focuses
viewers to it. As media, I use acrylic on canvas and mixed media.
